Bridging the Gap – Mindworking’s Modern Domicile in a Historic Setting

From centuries-old foundations to a state-of-the-art workplace – the transformation of Mindworking’s headquarters is a story of contrasts.

Mindworking develops cutting-edge sales and marketing software for the real estate industry, but their offices reside in a building with a history far removed from digital innovation. Back in 1690, the estate, then called Paradise, housed impoverished widows. In 1859, part of the property was sold, making way for Paradisgade School, while the remaining section was rebuilt to accommodate the Workers’ Union. Fast forward more than a century, and Mindworking has reclaimed Paradise as their own – a modern domicile for a forward-thinking company.

We were entrusted with the task of transforming this historic space into a contemporary workplace, a challenge that required balancing the charm of the old with the demands of the new. Strict 2007 building regulations had to be met, modern workspaces needed to be integrated, and the architectural integrity of the original structure had to be respected – all without losing the character that made this building special in the first place.

Instead of seeing the irregular walls, exposed beams, and unconventional layouts as obstacles, we embraced them. The aged brick walls and unique spatial quirks became defining features, while new elements were designed in a modern yet sympathetic style, using high-quality materials that complement the past rather than erase it.

The result? A seamless fusion of history and innovation – where the past isn’t just preserved, but proudly displayed. We quite literally minded the gap.
