Kirsebærsne (Cherry Snow) Album Cover

The digital release KIRSEBÆRSNE (Cherry blossom-snow) is 10 songs from critically acclaimed Danish composer and bass player Torben Westergaard collaborating with award-winning Danish author of children’s books Tina Sakura Bestle.

It is an album that speaks up to children. The lyrics of Tina Sakura Bestle are peculiar, quirky, clever and funny. Torben Westergaard’s music reintroduces an ‘old school’ approach to music for children age 3-10 and their parents that communicates through inner artistic quality rather than bombastic outer loudness. It aims to make the world bigger, not smaller.

Due to this we wanted both album and single covers to be simple yet inciting and stimulating for children as well as their parents.
The participating musicians all belong to the top shelf of the Danish and Swedish music scene within the genres folk and jazz and all generally associated with music for grownups.

For this release a songbook was made and fortunately we were asked to do the book design. The songbook contains nodes and lyrics to the songs on the album, and amazing hand drawings by Sumo Illustration. We cannot show you the songbook as it sells on Saxo.com but go buy it or see examples on torbenwestergaard.com. We probably should mention that KIRSEBÆRSNE songbook is only available in Danish.
